Why You Need A Face Serum

People ask us all the time why they need a face serum and if it is even worth the extra time and money. There seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding lotion vs. serums. Or even how to use it for that matter!

Don't despair, we will break it all down for you in this blog.

WHAT IS A FACE SERUM
A face serum is a beauty must-have skin treatment that targets specific issues by using highly concentrated, potent ingredients that attack a whole realm of skin issues, such as hyperpigmentation, dryness, breakouts, wrinkles etc.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FACE LOTION AND A FACE SERUM
Because serums are thinner in consistency than lotions, and because of certain ingredients used to allow deeper absorption, serums are equipped to go into the cellular structure to address and correct your beauty concerns. Lotions and creams on the other hand, basically are considered epidermis barriers to prevent moisture loss and to further aid in hydration.

This is the reason why it is very important to layer skin products. You need to nourish your skin by layering products to protect it from outside aggressors. You wouldn't go outside in the Winter season with just your sweater, would you?

HOW TO USE
Face serums are always used on clean skin. After your cleanser and toner, place a few pumps into the palms of your hands and press onto your face, neck, and decolletage. Once absorbed, layer your lotion or cream. Use twice a day for optimal results.

THERE IS A SERUM FOR EVERYONE!
No matter your age, there is a serum out there for you. One key factor that we've noticed was that the majority of the population had severely dehydrated skin. From the weather, our lifestyle - coffee, alcohol consumption, not drinking enough water and not eating enough fresh vegetables and fruits, to our culture of obsessively stripping away our skin's own defense system with harsh soaps, cleansers. What is needed, no matter what your skin type is, is to use nourishing products that calm and rebalance the skin. We need to put the moisture back into our skin so that it can better regulate its own sebum production, stop breakouts in its track and regain its luminosity once again. If your skin can better retain moisture, you will have a better chance of maintaining beautifully radiant skin.

WHY MAHINA BEAUTE
As we age, our skin loses its ability to retain moisture and the collagen production slows dramatically. Serums that treat these issues with potent ingredients like hyaluronic acid and vitamin c are essential. Both of our serums are hyaluronic acid based. We use two different types, one that goes deep into your cells to plump it up and another one that stays on the skin's surface to protect and also for added hydration. Double whammy! Our serums are seasonless, ageless and genderless. Oh, did we tell you that it is also Vegan + Cruelty-Free? YES!
We believe that animal parts DO NOT belong in our skincare.

Now, let me tell you a little bit about our serums...

"Turn On The Light" is our botanical vitamin C serum, with the addition of blood orange and yuzu essential oils, they assist with collagen production and also help to repair and prevent further skin damage of the skin. It is great for all ages but especially wonderful for those that desire an even skin tone. On an emotional level, this serum will bring a sense of joy to your day.

Our "Sacred Rose" serum has the same benefits of "Turn On The Light" - super lightweight, hydrates and brightens the skin. Because we added richer oils to this formula, such as rose, tamanu, rosehip oil, and vetiver essential oil, it is specially created for those that want a more hydrating effect. It also soothes the spirit and helps to open up the heart chakra.

TIP: We like to use the "Turn On The Light" face serum during the day and "Sacred Rose" serum at night. They are like our uppers and downers. We really should change the names of these serums to "Happy Days" and "Peaceful Nights"
